Life Stories

Life Stories: using video I capture individual’s and couple’s life stories using candid questions and conversation. I craft our 3-hour footage into a 12-minute video time capsule. In addition, the family receives lightly edited stories captured on film day.

Community Stories

Each Community Story is Unique. I help define your brand & cause through your people. By capturing feeling, energy, and culture, I convey who you are as an organization from all perspectives. These videos and story concepts will support marketing, internal communication strategies & external funding opportunities.

how it works

our four step approach

EXPLORATION
(nice to meet you)

It is imperative that everyone feels comfortable. My approach is casual like having coffee with a friend (sometimes we even have coffee during). Getting to know each person is my favorite part.

THEME MAPPING
(getting prepared)

Prior to filming we will discuss themes to explore which guide the conversation in a meaningful way. Theme mapping allows for those being filmed to be led in a candid way.

CAPTURING
(film day)

Every story requires different schedules & locations. We are flexible and accommodating. We will decide these details together.

CRAFTING
(video production)

‘Life Stories’, we create a polished video & provide 30-mins of lightly edited conversation. ‘Community Stories’, the length & format will vary depending on use & purpose of the story.

A Notes from George's Daughter: "Thank you so much for making the video of when my dad was 95 and still living independently. This was recently played for about 80 people at his 100th birthday party. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. You did an amazing job with putting him at ease and bringing out the sparkle in his eyes when telling the story of his life. The division of early life, love of his life, family life, and career life was very well organized and interesting to both those who knew him well and those who didn't know him as well. I, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will always treasure this. Thank you, Carolyn"
A note from their daughter: "My parents were celebrating their 50th anniversary and my siblings and I wanted to get them something special. I had seen some of Jocelyn‘s amazing work in the past and when I spoke with her she made the decision to make a legacy video easy. We wanted the video to be a surprise to be played at the anniversary party. Jocelyn went along with the plan so perfectly. The look on my parents face when we played the video was priceless. It was a gift for us as well-cherished memories for us to show to our children and our children’s children! Priceless. Val."
Featured on Vancity Buzz (Now The Daily Hive) An article written by them: "A collection of intimate one-on-one conversations with a variety of war survivors, providing a glimpse into their most vivid, and often difficult, memories during their time of service. The stories promise to educate, inspire and touch viewer’s hearts.

“The goal of this project is to provide veterans the opportunity to express their feelings to help Canadians understand the depth of their struggle and sacrifice,” explains Jocelyn Vieth, Digital Storyteller and Founder, Your Digital Legacy. “This collection intends to bridge the generational disconnect between those who experienced war first-hand and those who have become accustomed to the values and beliefs which soldiers fought to preserve. In the video, the veterans define ‘sacrifice’ and share what they hope younger generations will remember.” Use of the video is encouraged to keep these memories alive. Viethjocelyn@gmail.com
A Note from Kara Hay, Executive Director of ASK Friendship Centre: "Digital Legacy did a video for the ASK Friendship Society showcasing who we are and what we provide for seniors and their families in Vancouver BC. Most people don’t understand what an Adult Day Program is and being able to show-case our program in a short video has allowed seniors, families and the people that support us to see the program in action. Jocelyn was able to capture the spirit of our program within this video story, allowing people to see the heart of our program"
